National Cord Blood Program
In 1993 NYBC began the first program to collect umbilical cord blood for transplantation into unrelated recipients. Cord Blood is rich in hematopoietic stem cells that, when transplanted, can reconstitute bone marrow destroyed by chemotherapy, radiation or disease.
