 |  | | | Volunteers are very important to NYBC and are in great demand. They are all ages,
and act as public relations emissaries for NYBC. Volunteers support our mobile
blood drives, our fixed sites and our administrative office needs. Volunteers
may meet and greet donors at drives, sign donors in at drive registration, and
perform clerical and computer work at our offices. Our volunteers get to meet
interesting, caring people and travel to new locations each day. And they support
a vital mission - saving lives. Volunteer opportunities exist throughout
our community.

Since 1973, New Jersey Blood Services has been fulfilling its commitment to the people of New Jersey by supplying blood products and services with quality and compassion. New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS) serves approximately 60 New Jersey hospitals and conducts blood drives on a daily basis in 14 New Jersey counties. In order to collect enough blood for the patients in these hospitals, NJBS needs approximately 120,000 blood donors annually. NJBS conducts an estimated 250 blood drives each month, partnering with business and community organizations who host these drives for their employees, residents, students and members.
NJBS is dedicated to serving others. Our goal is to collect enough blood each year to meet the needs of area patients so that imports of blood from other states become a thing of the past. We depend on the generosity of blood donors from diverse backgrounds to ensure a steady supply of blood for the one out of three of us who will require a transfusion at some point in our lives. We seek new donors every day and are grateful for the support we receive from our neighbors who truly give the Gift of Life. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our staff is able to work in close cooperation with hospitals throughout much of New Jersey 24 hours a day, every day, to best manage the blood supply for patients in need of life-saving transfusions.
