Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are very important to NYBC and are in great demand. They are all ages, and act as public relations emissaries for NYBC. Volunteers support our mobile blood drives, our fixed sites and our administrative office needs. Volunteers may meet and greet donors at drives, sign donors in at drive registration, and perform clerical and computer work at our offices. Our volunteers get to meet interesting, caring people and travel to new locations each day. And they support a vital mission -- Saving Lives. Volunteer opportunities exist throughout our community.

To sign up as a NYBC Volunteer in Manhattan call Jessica Gadsden at (646) 812-9111 or send an e-mail to jgadsden@nybloodcenter.org.

New York Blood Services (NYBS) has been providing committed and quality service to the Manhattan community for 40 years. NYBS conducts approximately 225 blood drives a month through various partnerships with financial, legal, real estate, media, religious, educational, residential and business communities who make Manhattan the center of the world. This collaborative effort helps us supply nearly 35 hospitals in Manhattan the blood products they need to save lives each and every day.

New York Blood Services is dedicated to the community it serves. We recognize that one out of three people will require a transfusion at some point in their lives. We depend on the generosity of our donors and seek new ones everyday. The need for blood is around the clock and our diligent efforts rely on community volunteers who give the gift of life.
There are many blood-drive locations in Manhattan. You can use the blood drive locator to find the most convenient location for you.

The NY Police Academy hosted a huge blood drive event on October 3rd. Over 500 "recruits" registered to donate blood. Thanks to "The Finest" for taking time out of their busy schedules to "Give the Gift of Life."

Special thanks also to Q104.3 for hosting a radio sponsored blood drive over the Labor Day Period. Over 200 donations were collected throughout the Metropolitan NY/NJ region. A pair of U2 rock concert tickets were raffled by the radio station to a very lucky donor. Thanks to Q104.3 for supporting the community during the critical holiday weekend!!
